PEACE ORGANISATION
International Cities of Peace is a non-profit association of villages and cities around the world that self-define their community as intentional Cities of Peace. The City of Peace movement is growing exponentially with many grassroots organizations forming and working toward creating a culture of peace for the benefit of neighbourhoods and families.
The use of the arts — painting, videography, photography, writing, sculpture, music, humour, architecture, and all other forms of expression — produce an aesthetic result that can inspires positive change. What is termed peace art has expanded in recent years to transcend but honour the witnessing of violence into a proliferation of positive, affirming visions of how the world can shift toward a culture of peace.
“With “A Day in the Life of the World,” the 11Eleven Project celebrates the biggest secret the world — that 99.999% of all activity in the human realm is spent toward finding peace. From teachers and mothers, to sports heroes and, yes, politicians and generals, everyone in the world has a dream of peace for their families. The World Dream is Peace! Film on.”
MEDIA ORGANISATION
RICK’S Café
RICK’S cafe’ stands for Renewing Intercultural Competences and Knowledge Spaces because we are a growing network of players in education who share the value of schools that are an opportunity for their students to grow up into unique individuals. We have come together to share experience and learn together and from each other as a result of friendships and we are now working towards common goals.
RICK’S cafe’ is joining the 11.11.11 initiative through EU wide activities as part of its bid for worldwide visibility and as a networking activity. It is our first activity in which partner organisations other than the founder members are participating so for us 11.11.11 is a step towards enlarging our footprint in a creative and entertaining manner. On the 11th of November 2011 our partners and members will take up photo and video cameras with their colleagues, students, family and friends and press the button on frames and scenes that bear witness to where one is sending out a message of what the images signify for each participants.
“We are in 11.11.11 because it fits like a glove with the philosophy of RICK’S cafe’. We have taken it up because it is a taste of what we see in the future of schools…students participating in activities that help them generate in their minds a global vision of things. It fits into what RICK’S cafe’ stands for in our minds that is schools that balance local identity with being an international space. For every RICK’S cafe’ participant in 11.11.11 it will be a micro activity that will make us and our students conscious of the global context we live in every day.”
