Meet the Team: The Man Behind The Screenings!
Name: Alex Daoust
Age: 24
Title: Event Manager
Can you describe your role at the 11Eleven Project?
To oversee the execution of our Sydney Town Hall test screening and our worldwide premiere launch on November 11th, 2012
Why did you want to be a part of the project?
To get the chance to work on a unique project that will make thousands of people a little bit more compassionate over the course of one single day. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for me to make this project go from big to HUGE!
Do you have any rituals you do when working on the project?
Let’s Have a Kiki – Scissor Sisters , on repeat!
What is one thing you have learned while working on the 11Eleven project?
That with the right leadership (Danielle Lauren), there’s nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.
What is your favourite thing about the project?
Imagining people in their homes and offices around the world clicking open one of our team’s emails and hearing about the project for the first time. As I hit the send button on an email destined for someone in Mexico City, I can picture the crazy bustling of the city around them as they visit our website and whisper to themselves ‘this is so cool!’
I can picture the museum curator in Stockholm or the theatre director in China getting excited to talk to their peers about hosting a screening and adding their name to the growing list of participants around the world. It’s such an international project of gigantic proportions that it’s amazing that with a few clicks of a button we’re connected to people from all corners of the globe.
Hopefully on November 11 audiences from all walks of life will get that same feeling of connection as the stories of 179 countries are revealed to them exactly one year after they were captured.
