11Eleven Project Soundtrack Available on iTunes!!

On November 2, 2012 by Alex

Hi 11Eleven supporters!

My name is Alex McCann and I am the Head of Audio and Production Management here at the 11Eleven Project.

I have some very exciting news for you!

The 11Eleven Project Soundtrack is now available on iTunes!

This is the FIRST TIME that a film soundtrack has been completely created from user-generated content that was all recorded on one day around the world!!

- THIS IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING!!! -

Please, please, please head to iTunes to purchase your copy of the 11Eleven Project Soundtrack! Before 11/11/12 hits, this will be your first chance to experience a part of the 11Eleven Project, so why not check it out! Don’t forget, all proceeds from the sales of the soundtrack go to our charity partners! :)

I would like to thank everyone who submitted music and sound recordings! Some of the tracks submitted represent huge amounts of talent over a wide variety of genres. I wish more tracks could have been utilised throughout the film, purely to share some of the beautiful music that I was lucky enough to receive. So thank you again to those who submitted musical content, without you the 11Eleven Project would not be the amazing musical journey that it is!

Thanks and enjoy!!

Sydney Preview Screening Recap from the Creative Director

On October 5, 2012 by Danielle

I am so excited to announce that the community test screening of the 11Eleven Project held on the 21st September (International Day of Peace) was a wonderful success. Sydney Town Hall was packed, as supporters of the 11Eleven Project had a chance to get a first glimpse of the feature film. The night was kicked off by esteemed actor Charlie Clause (co-host of my favourite Podcast TOFOP) and celebrated by actor and social activist, Imogen Bailey (who has just returned back from visiting a refugee camp in Somalia). Both Charlie and Imogen moved the room with their passion for storytelling and I personally felt truly honoured to have them share a few words with our special audience.

I remember walking onto the stage, addressing the wonderful people in the room, and feeling an overwhelming sense of excitement and nerves. The 11Eleven Project has been brewing in my mind since 2000 and to finally be able to screen it to a group of people was a life changing moment.  More than anything, I felt humbled. Honoured by all who submitted their work to the 11Eleven Project, inspired by my beautiful team who have volunteered tirelessly to make this project a reality, my friends and family who have supported me through this crazy adventure and most importantly the audience – the people I serve to connect and engage with. The overall consensus was that the film made people “laugh and cry” and knowing that gives me the confidence to say I have achieved my objective: to make people connect and care about other human beings. On the night, the audience was asked to fill in a survey and I have been using the valuable feedback as a guideline to complete the final cut of the film.

Thanks to everyone for making the 11Eleven Project possible. I implore you to share the project, host a screening, make a donation and celebrate the connectedness of our humanity.

Sending much love from 11Eleven Project HQ

Social Media and the 11Eleven Project

On September 18, 2012 by Alex

Since 11/11/11, our project has been taking over the world one photo, status, tweet and YouTube clip at a time!

People from all over the world have used social media to share a part of their lives on that auspicious day with the 11Eleven Project. From Vimeo to Flickr, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, social media has made the project both possible and truly global.

Throughout the lifespan of the project, we have used social media to create, and communicate with, our growing international community. Producer Morgan Calton says that this is because, “social media has opened the world up so that conversing with someone 10,000 miles away is as simple as talking to your neighbour! It is a fantastic tool to be able to have at our disposal to make sure as many people know about us as possible.”

With the power of social media resting in the hands of its users, it’s up to you to bring about the changes you want to see in the world!

Meet the Team: Morgan Calton

On September 10, 2012 by 11Eleven Team

Name: Morgan Calton

Age: 28

Title: Producer

Can you describe your role at the 11Eleven Project?

I’ve been on the project for around 15 months now and it’s fair to say I’ve covered most areas in that time. So you name it, I’ve probably done it!

What does the number 11 mean to you?

It’s one louder. (If you haven’t seen This is Spinal Tap…well, then you should)

What can you tell us about the London offices?

Ha! Well I’ve been splitting my time between working from home and an office that belongs to my dad’s distribution company on a lovely pedestrianised street in the heart of London – when it’s just a team of one, you can be pretty flexible with where you sit down and get on with it!

Do you have any rituals you do when working on the project?

I like to start my day by drinking my body weight in coffee. I have a espresso machine in my kitchen here, so if I make it through the rest of the project without a caffeine-induced heart attack, I’ll see that as a bonus.

Do you have a favorite quote or saying?

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” (Winston Churchill – just one of his many, many quotes that I love!) – close runner up: “Morgan, can you proof read this?” (Most people in the office)

What is your favorite thing about the project?

The ambition that’s driving it. We have had so many great people working for us, even for a short time. Everyone is volunteering on the project and sometimes the work that people put in when they’re not getting paid really shows the character that they possess. I’m happy to say, the majority of the people we’ve had on board have been fantastic in that sense. Also, the fact we’ve gotten this far, very much against the odds. We’re a very determined (read: stubborn) bunch here!

What’s been your most memorable moment so far?

In the lead up to 11/11/11, I spent (along with Danielle Lauren and Alex McCann) pretty much 5 days straight in the office. The office bean bags became beds for sporadic naps, otherwise it was just trying to do as much last-minute promotion as possible and then keeping an eye on what was going on around the world on the day, with timezones meaning it actually lasted 48hours for us. By the end, we were still going thanks to pure adrenaline (and a bit of tequila), although our sanity had taken a bit of a pummelling. Great times though!

Finally, what are you going to do when the project is finished?

I’m going to go AWOL for a couple of weeks and leave my phone locked in a cupboard so no one can contact me. Then it’ll be time to start the next project :-)

This Week at 11Eleven Project HQ

On September 6, 2012 by 11Eleven Team

This week we’ve fought and overcome the flu, stomach bugs and unseasonably hot weather. We’ve welcomed a new member to the team (hello Evelyn!) and we’re about to reach the two-weeks-to-go mark for our special Sydney preview screening (remember, this is a totally FREE event, so get yourselves down to Sydney’s Lower Town Hall at 6.30pm on September 21).

As ever, we are all smiles in the office this week!
